Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

What is CIDP?

CIDP stands for Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy. CIDP is when the body’s immune system slowly attacks the peripheral nerves. The disease causes weakness or paralysis of the legs and arms. CIDP is categorized as an autoimmune disease because the body’s defenses attack and strip away the covering that protects the nerves. This cover is called the myelin sheath. However, in later stages of the disease, the immune system breaks through the myelin covering and attacks the nerves themselves. Additionally, CIDP is related to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) or Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (AIDP). However, CIDP symptoms come on more slowly and are chronic and long-lasting. CIDP is also known as Chronic Relapsing Polyneuropathy when patients seem to stabilize and recover, then experience a return of the symptoms later on.

What to do if you get CIDP After a Vaccination?

This is not a typical personal injury case, so you should contact a lawyer who specializes in vaccine injury.  These are not local cases. Instead, they are brought before the US Court of Federal Claims. Unique to other types of law, there are no legal costs for a patient to hire a vaccine lawyer because the federal program pays all of the lawyer’s fees. Additionally, you never have to share a portion of your compensation with an attorney.  The vaccine attorneys at mctlaw help clients get compensation for their vaccine reactions, including some multi-million dollar settlements.

Is There Compensation for CIDP Triggered by a Vaccine Reaction?

YES. Mctlaw has represented many CIDP and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) patients in the federal vaccine court, winning financial compensation for CIDP and GBS patients. Involved vaccines include the flu vaccine, Gardasil vaccine, Menactra vaccine, Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine, and Hepatitis B vaccine.

What are the Symptoms of CIDP?

The most common symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Loss of reflexes
  • Tingling in the arms and legs
  • Numbness
  • Aching pain in the muscles
  • Weakness
  • Paralysis

These symptoms typically come on slowly and progress for a long period of time.  Additionally, patients are usually treated for CIDP with repeated courses of either intravenous immunoglobulin or plasma exchange.  However, early treatment is the key to the long-term recovery of CIDP.

I can’t recommend this firm enough. They have an outstanding team that truly care for their clients…I have been awarded a fair six figure settlement.

When I say “they went to bat” for me…this Law Firm literally did just that. They persevered to bring the hard-nosed Manufacturer to settle and provide me some recompense for everything I had to endure which led to this suit.
